How to get microsoft office onto Macbook Air without dvd drive?
HI i just got a macbook air and am typing on it now. IT does not seem to have a dvd/cd drive and i am trying to install microsoft office onto the laptop. I have the disc but do not know how to get it on there. help?
Either get a USB-connected DVD drive, or use another Mac to create a disk image file (.dmg) from the DVD, then transfer the .dmg file to your MacBook Air, e.g. via Wifi/file sharing («System Preferences > Sharing» on the other Mac) or a USB flash drive, then open it and run the Office installer…
EDIT:
Actually, you can skip the DMG-making part and simply copy the file «Office Installer.mpkg» from the disc straight to the flash drive. Then plug it into the MBA’s USB port and double-click the installer to run it.
